When it comes to creating positive, inclusive cultures, we know that it's more than just rainbow logos; it's about fostering genuine acceptance, implementing inclusive policies, providing education and support, and actively challenging discrimination to ensure everyone feels valued and respected year-round.

Neurodiversity Celebration Week is either like a big, awesome party or a reserved quiet space for those who need it for the different ways our brains work! Ahead of this important week in the GEC calendar, we caught up with Caroline Keep - award-winning teacher, Autistic/ADHD Teacher/Data Scientist & founding GEC Collective Member to reflect on her involvement so far in the GEC Platform and our shared hopes for the future of EDI.

How diverse are your bookshelves and playlists when it comes to LGBT+ characters and themes?

For LGBT+ History Month we’ve dipped into GEC KnowHow, the biggest collection of DEI resources - for everyone, to select some books, podcasts and TV shows that can build belonging, start conversations and contribute to better inclusion.

We know that by providing children with stories and books with information about themselves, their families and the wider LGBT+ community it’s possible to empower and educate people from a young age.

Reading about LGBT+ characters, families that are alike or differ from yours, as well as exploring the history and discrimination that this community have faced and still face is a vital step for the future of inclusivity.
