Bio:
Matt Pinkett is a Head of English at a mixed comprehensive school in Surrey, with over 12 years’ teaching experience. He has worked in many different types of school where he has been both a head of department and an assistant headteacher.
Matt has a personal and professional interest in gender in schools and is co-author of the book, ‘Boys Don’t Try? Rethinking Masculinity in Schools’. He has written for a number of publications on this and other topics, and also writes a blog in which he discusses teaching and masculinity.

Matt is a founding member of the GEC Circle, contributing his expertise in masculinity, gender equality, and education. His books are featured in GEC KnowHow, and his resources are available within the GEC Platform to support schools in fostering inclusive environments. Matt has also delivered in-person student workshops for the GEC, focusing on masculinity and gender equality, helping young people engage in critical discussions around identity, stereotypes, and inclusion.
